At the very start of the year, I want to share with you a very useful checklist which helped me a lot in promoting articles and rank them in the top of the Google Search. Without further ado, here it is.

Nemanja Zivkovic @dilimanac

Checklist for promoting articles:

  • Make sure you read the articles few times and think about the specific parts that can be emphasized through promotion.
  • Share the article on your Social Media pages (Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram — feed and stories, Google+) in the morning, from 9am to 10am (stats shows that people read more articles at that time, during their break at work).

NOTE: In case you need help with Social Media, check 60 Social Media Tips for Small Business!

  • Rewrite the article on your personal profile on Linkedin using appropriate hashtags and insert a link to the original article. Don’t publish the whole article, but publish 80% of the content.
  • Rewrite the article on your Medium profile using appropriate hashtags and insert a link to the original article.
  • Share the article in 3 appropriate Facebook groups per day with different caption than the one you used on the page (no hashtags on Facebook, please) and try to intrigue people to click the link and actually read the article. Repeat that until you post it to every appropriate group you are a member of.
  • Share the article in all Linkedin groups you are a member of with a right caption.
  • When sharing on Instagram and Twitter use hashtags which are not viral and have fewer people using them.
  • Search the topics on Quora based on the already mentioned specific parts of the article, and the headline, and answer all questions you can find — make sure you personalize the message and provide the requested answer, so it doesn’t appear as a spam. You can use photos from the article, too.
  • Share answered questions from Quora to your personal and company’s Twitter accounts, in a bulk (one by one).
  • Go back to Quora, Linkedin and Facebook daily to answer on every single comment on each post (both on your company page or on posts in groups you shared the article). Answer with intriguing comments which provoke more comments and start fruitful conversations. Do the same on the website.
  • Invite people who liked your posts on Facebook to like your Page.
  • Think about using Facebook Ads to promote the article, with right targeting and focusing on engagement (it will get you more clicks and website visits than focusing on website visits only).
  • Create artwork which will tell the story from the article on a different way and post it on Social Media.
  • At the end of the month, check the queries and backlinks for the article in Google Search Console and create cooperation with authors of the other articles which are ranked well (see if they can get the link to your article in their article or if there is a chance to do a guest article or cross-blog promotion).
  • Repeat this for every post.

This was super short, but super useful. In case you have any questions or/and you need help, either with advice or with finding someone to help you with your marketing efforts and business development, email me at dan@theiuvo.com.
